In a series of 10 workshops held at Bishops School in Cape Town Mark will share some of what he has learned in his 12 years of teaching the game.
If you are interested in coaching for the first time, or are already involved but would like to increase your knowledge, or even if you are just a keen parent wanting to help get your children off to a good start in the sport - then these workshops are perfect for you.
Whilst this will not result in a formal qualification, many of the frameworks used in both the Level I and II U.S.A. World Squash Federation approved teaching certificates will be covered. A comprehensive set of notes is given out at each workshop covering the course content.
The workshops do progress in a logical order, however missing a module will not limit your ability to understand the next module in the series.
The workshops are provisionally scheduled as follows:
Module 1 Getting Started (Knowing The Basics) February 2009
Module 2 The Forehand Swing in Detail March 2009
Module 3 The Backhand Swing in Detail May 2009
Module 4 Correct Movement (forward and lateral) May 2009
Module 5 The Back Corners July 2009
Module 6 Coaching Strategy August 2009
Module 7 Contemporary Training Methods September 2009
Module 8 Attacking Short November 2009
Module 9 Lobs and Volleys January 2010
Module 10 Drills, Drills, Drills February 2010
All the modules are held on a Sunday morning and the cost is R275 per person per module.
A minimum of 6 participants is required to repeat a module that has already taken place.
